Gmail is the most widely used Email platform throughout the world due to it ‘simplicity, speed and additional benefits such as Google Drive, Google Plus, Google Maps etc. Creating an account or signing up for Gmail is very straight forward. Below we have illustrated every step for signing up in Gmail.
Go to www.Gmail.com
On the address bar of your web browser, type www.gmail.com. The Gmail Sign In page will show up on your screen.
Create an Account
Below the sign in form on the Gmail Sign In screen, click “More Options” and then “Create Account.” The Create Account page will show up on your screen.
Start to Fill Up the Form
The Create Account page has a form that you must fill up. In the First name field, type in your first name. In the Last name field, type in your last name. Google advises that you use your real identity when signing up for an account because you will be using the same account for several Google services like Google Drive, Google Sheets, and more.
Choose Your Username
Next, you have to choose your username. A good rule of thumb is to use your real name as your username because you never know if you will soon be using your email to communicate with your future boss. For instance, you can’t make a good professional impression with a username like spongebobfan.
If Username is Taken, Choose Another One
Google might inform you that your username is taken. There is nothing bad about it. The good news is that Google will also provide you with a set of similar usernames that you can use. You can either create a unique version of your username (example: your first name, your last name, and the year of your birth) or choose from the set of available usernames that Google has provided.
Create Your Password
After successfully creating your username, choose your password. The most uncrackable passwords are 6 characters long, contain numbers, contain a unique pattern of uppercase and lowercase letters, and contain punctuation marks. You can get absolutely creative with your password, just remember one thing: never forget it.
Give Your Birthday
Next, you must type in your date of birth in the Birthday field. Google asks for this kind of information from you so that they know if you are a minor.
After the Birthday field is the Gender field. Choose from the drop-down menu and move on to the next field.
Give Your Recovery
The next field is the Mobile phone field. You have to provide your mobile phone number so that Google can text you your access code if you happen to get locked out of your account. Google will also ask for your current email address, but this is optional.
Check the Terms
After clicking the name of your country of residence in the Country field, click “Next step.” The Terms of Service will appear on your screen next. Clicking “I Agree” below the Terms will bring you to your new Google Account.
See Your New Inbox
Once you fill in all the details correctly, it will then take few seconds to create the account and then will automatically lead you to your new Gmail Inbox.
